Artist Statement
My work asks if it is possible to use projections to engage an immobile audience, can projecting art images onto banal structures compel the viewer to enter into a new experiential relationship with their environment – to “reprogram the world” not only visually but also experientially. I focus on the human experience and its various, interlinked memories through which my installations display. I create new “skins” for my cinematic projections; these enliven the structure and give it new life by means of juxtapositions between image and physical architecture. Because the projected scenes are also images from a particular area, the interaction between the structure and the images will lead the viewer on their own journey through their memories and experiences of that environment.
